Inertia

INERTIA

Caught in the sinking sand of inertia
Threatening to drown my dreams
Feeling paralysed
Feet stuck in mud
Eyes dulled to the vision
That is deep inside of me

Heavy feet
Stop the soar
Into higher skies
Preventing passion to roar
Like a blazing fire inside
A heart full of unspoken words
That have seeds of life
That could kill this inertia
That's choking on the inside

Then I lift my gaze
Toward the heavens
And see the ones gone before
A great cloud of cheerers
Egging me to run a little more
As I look at eternity past
I see what is to come
So I  break free from all that hinders
To run to the last

I tell myself
Dream a little longer
Keep up the good fight of faith
There is so much to be done
There is history to be made
A legacy to create
For  generations to come
So I break away from those fetters
And  to myself I say
Inertia shall not have its way.

Flame of the forest

FLAME OF THE FOREST

Blazing sun
Oppressive heat
Scorching everything in it's wake
Creation groans
With dry boughs bent low
Yearning, longing for rain

Then suddenly comes
Splashes of color
Flames of fire
Like torches on a tree
Signaling to the clouds
Come break out
Send showers upon me

Flame of the forest
Vibrant in hue
Like a silver lining
In dark grey clouds
Lighting up the dreary sky.

Through the lense of a friend | Desert Rose

Dessert Rose

DESERT ROSE

Born in tough terrain
You adapt and learn to live
In harsh heat
Storing in you what it takes to survive
In all that struggle
To stay alive
You still have beauty
Stored up deep inside

Then one day
You surprise
The whole wide world
As you burst into bloom
A dessert Rose

The scorching sun
Could not scar you
It could not stop
What you were ment to be
You burst out
Defying everything
Such beauty  speaking of Hope
Making my heart glad
Delightful dessert Rose.

Through the lense of a friend | What you tolerate dominates

WHAT YOU TOLERATE DOMINATES

Rack and ruin is what I see
A web of roots engulfing
A place that once was a home
A place of security, safety
Now overcome by
What should never have been
A telling tale of it's history

It's said you can't stop
The crow fly over your head
But you can sure stop it
From building a nest
It's the little foxes
That ruin the vine
These warnings we have heard
Time after Time

 What happened here
Why the neglect?
Did no one see
The little seed take root?
What seemed innocent
Grew silently
Spreading it's ugly tentacles
Over the facade

That tiny seed
Tolerated that day
Has come to dominate
Has come to stay
Choking life out of everything
Rack and ruin laid bare
For all to see.

Through the lense of a friend | Mangroves

MANGROVES

Mangled, mysterious
You stand alone
Facing the swells of the sea
Gnarled roots and branches
Speak of stories untold.

Not dainty in form
Yet a beautiful life giver
Breathing out sustainence for all
And with each passing tide
You will continue to be
Sinking your roots even deeper.

Through the lens of a friend | Moonlight Musings

Photo Credit - Padma Vyakaranam . Taken on Havelock Island, The Andamans

On a still dark night
You silently shine your light
Down on shimmering waters
Your silver beams
Creating reflections that gleam
Like gold and silver strings upon the sea

Beauty of the night
You bring light
Into darkness
Making it bearable
As we gaze into
Your serene cool countenance

How the Gentle breeze
Helps moon beams create
Amazing patterns of artistry
As you dance upon
Your watery canvas
You leave us enraptured
Staring into the distance
Quietly taking it all in.

Through the lens of a friend | Creative little creature

Photo by Padma Vyakaranam - Taken on Havelock Island, The Andamans

Creative crustacean!

Creature of sand and sea
How you create patterns
So perfect
Is baffling to me

Perfect in form

Who guides your ways?
You display the brilliance
Of the One by whom
You were made.

Geometric precision

As one guided by
An invisible compass
Tiny delicate creature!
Reflecting glory of
Your creator above!

Through the lens of a friend | Bent not broken.

BENT NOT BROKEN

Stately slender

Gracing sand and sea
Swaying ever so gently
Yet majestically

You stand tall
High above your fellows
Lending shade from the sun
For beach revellers
When frolicking and fun are done

You stand out different
I wonder what caused
That curve in gait?
Why are you so bent ?
Yet I see, not broken

What storms have you weathered?
What have you fought and overcome?
Allowing roots to go deeper still
Making you bend away and towards?

Whatever it is
I do not know
But it did not break you
What bruised you
Has made you even more beautiful
Telling a silent story of strong resilience.
